Cooking and Decorating

Today, I had two projects. The first was my new food of the day - Farmer's Casserole. It's a breakfast casserole with hashbrowns, egg, cheese, jalapenos, and sausage. Check it out:

It was a success! Yay! I handled the jalapenos a little better this time, too!

My second project was to put up curtain rods and hang curtains in my bedroom. Three of my walls are entirely windows (including inside my closet). The longest wall is the one that has been bothering me the most because even when the blinds are closed, I can see out the side of them and I feel all nervous when I'm getting dressed in the morning that someone could see me through the sides.

Mom came over and helped me out. I kept dropping things in awkward places, and I had to exchange four of the five panels because I got the wrong size, but we finally got them up:

Yay!

I've been having fun decorating my room. My friend Renee got me a present the last time she was in Florida. It's my birthday/Christmas present for a while.

Yes, that's right, it's an autographed, framed picture of Johnny Depp. HOTT! Sorry the pics are blurry, I was holding the camera at a funny angle and my back hurts at the moment.

I decided to decorate my room around the picture. I already had a gold-framed mirror that looked good with the gold-framed photograph, so the first thing I went out and bought was a new bed set. I have white sheets and a blue comforter.

Then, I decided I needed some storage space (under the bed is full).

This trunk is a worthless piece of crap. The arm hinge on the inside broke the first time I opened it, and there's no way you can pick up the trunk with stuff in it and not have the bottom fall out. However, it's cute, and it's not moving from it's current location, so I'm okay with it. I accidentally burned the (faux) leather with a curling iron, but I figured it made it look more worldly, so I just shrugged it off.

I also wanted a bench to put in front of the windows since I have ALWAYS (for as long as I can remember, anyway) wanted a window seat.

This bench is awesome. There's a good bit of storage inside of it, and it's sturdy. The trunk was a miss, but the bench was definitely a hit for me.

I got the red curtains to bring out the Union Jack in my Johnny Depp picture. If I feel like it, I'll follow the simple instructions included with the curtains to get the wrinkles out. I was just psyched to get 'em up. I will also get some gold cord to pull the curtains back with.

My next window project, which I'm not going to mess with right away, is to cover the windows inside the closet. It's a little weird when I'm rummaging around in there first thing in the morning and someone comes and parks in the parking lot facing my window. It's also weird to be walking down the sidewalk and look up and see my clothes hanging in the window.

I'm glad I got the curtains up, today. That was my main household project for this week. My self-esteem has been on a roller-coaster ride since Thursday, but I'm hanging in there. I got frustrated and cranky this evening (sorry, Mom and Dad!), then I bawled while I was driving to my dance class. Then I was starting to feel emotionally better when I got a little cocky with a back extension and halfway threw my back out. I say halfway, because I could still move, just not in a couple directions. I stretched it and got back to dancing a little more cautiously. It's still not 100% but it's better than it was.

Now, I'm sitting alone in my apartment, listening to the wind howling outside and thinking I might just splurge on some chocolate to feel better and take a long, hot shower. I'm not sure which order, yet. I guess I'd have to move, first.

*sigh*

Hangin' in there.
